Before you book
Does loft boarding turn my loft into a room?
No. Loft boarding creates storage space. A habitable room needs a loft conversion, which involves structural work, fire safety, a staircase and Building Regulations approval. We are happy to explain the difference.
Will boarding squash my insulation?
Not if it is raised. We fit boards on loft legs above the insulation so it keeps its full depth. Boards screwed straight onto the joists usually compress it and make it less effective.
Do you visit before quoting?
Usually, yes. Photos help us give early advice, but most jobs need a quick look at the hatch, roof structure, insulation and wiring before we can give a firm written quotation.
How long does a typical job take?
It depends on the size of the loft and what is included. Many boarding, ladder and hatch jobs are completed within a day or two. Your quotation will give a realistic estimate for your home.
What areas do you cover?
We are based near Stourbridge (DY9) and cover Worcestershire and the West Midlands – roughly a two-hour drive from base. Send us your postcode and we will confirm.
Do I need to empty my loft first?
Ideally, yes – a clear loft makes fitting faster and safer. If that is difficult, tell us when you enquire and we will talk through the options.
